Union Public Service Commission invites applications for the Geologists Examination 2012 for recruitment in the Geology Department, Ministry of Mines. 

Eligibility Criteria for UPSC Geologists examination 2012 

 A candidate must hold-
(i) Master’s degree in Geology or Applied Geology or Marine Geology; or
(ii) Master’s degree in Mineral Exploration (for posts in Geological Survey of India only), or
(iii) Master’s degree in Hydrogeology (for posts in central ground water board only) from a recognized university; or (iv) Diploma of Associateship in Applied Geology of the Indian School of Mines, Dhanbad.
The candidate must be between age 21-32 as on 1.1.2012. 

How to apply for UPSC Geologists exam 2012 

(a) Candidates are required to apply UPSC Geologists Examination Online using the link. Scanned photograph as well as Scanned signature of  the candidate is a must have while filling up the online form.  A sum of Rs 100/- should be paid by online applicants which excludes Females and candidates of SC/ST. OBC candidates are not exempted from any fees payment.

(b) Candidates residing in certain remote areas can exercise the option of applying through Offline mode also by using the Common Application Form being used for Geologists examinations 2011 conducted by the UPSC. This application form for Geologists 2011 along with an Information Brochure containing general instructions for filling up the form, an acknowledgement card and an envelope for sending the UPSC Geologists application form 2011 is obtainable from the designated Head Post Offices / Post Offices throughout the country as listed in Appendix-III of Notice against cash payment of Rs 30/-.

Form should be purchased from the designated Post Offices only and not from any other agency. UPSC Geologist Form 2011 can be used only once and for only one examination. 

Selection Procedure of UPSC Geologists examination 2012 

The Geologists Examination conducted by UPSC consists of a written test and an interview. The Written Exam is of 900 marks and the Interview is of 200 marks.
